Frequently Asked Questions

Can other people join me while I am watching a program?

Absolutely. As long as they are happy to be recorded, friends and family are more than welcome to be in the room. In fact, it’s encourage as we want your viewing experience to be as natural as possible! 

I lost my login code, what should I do?

Email help@amplifiedintelligence.com.au and a human will get back to you as soon as possible. 

I'm stuck on the 'Thank you' screen, please help!

Not to worry! To start another viewing, simply press the home button twice and swipe up from the bottom to close the app completely.

Wait a few seconds before relaunching and you will be back at the main login screen where you can re-enter your unique login ID. 

My hardware kit has not yet been delivered. What do I do?

You will be emailed a tracking link as soon as your device is on its way – this may end up in your junk / spam so be sure to keep an eye on both.

Please note, as we are sending an iPod device someone must be home to sign for it. If no one is home it will be redirected to your local post office for collection.

What do I do if my device is switching off before the end of the session?

To ensure all data is captured and uploaded, and your incentive is processed correctly, you will need to keep the iPod on charge while it is in use. 

While a cable is provided with your ipod, depending on your home setup you may need to source a power adapter. If you have a smartphone, most come with a detachable USB charging adapter which can be used to help plug the iPod into a power source.

If you do not have an adapter many TVs have a USB port on the back and/or side that you may be able to plug the cable into directly. Please note, not all TVs will provide sufficient charge so please check you can see the iPod is charging before commencing another session.

Getting Started

How do I set up for Free-to-air TV viewing?

Ensure the room is well lit and you are able to sit infront of your TV. With the exception of making sure the room is well lit, we’d like you to watch TV as you normally would.

Remove iPod from the box and power it on using the button on the top right hand corner. Connect to your home WiFi. The device will already have the attentionTRACE app loaded to it.

Setting up the iPod

  • Mount the iPod into the tripod bracket. Ensure that the rear facing camera faces forward, with the camera at the top. Please note: this means the back of the iPod will be facing towards you)
  • Ensure the iPod is positioned so the camera is at the top right of the iPod
  • Place your iPod & tripod directly under the TV in the centre of the screen. If your TV is wall mounted, find a stool or suitable piece of furniture that you can safely sit the tripod on. Ensure the iPod is central to the TV.

Start viewing

  • Turn on your TV and select a program to watch on one of the prescribed channels (see your study information page for details).
  • Once the TV is on, launch the attentionTRACE app on the iPod and enter your unique login ID. This will be sent to you via email. Be sure to check our junk / spam folder.
  • Upon logging in, select your program length and press start.
How do I set up for pre-loaded programming viewing?

Ensure the room is well lit and you are able to sit infront of your TV. With the exception of making sure the room is well lit, we’d like you to watch TV as you normally would.

Connecting to your TV

  • Take the HDMI cable and connect to the HDMI port in the Apple adapter. It’s marked ‘HDMI’. The lightning end of the adapter plugs into the Lightning port of your iPod (just like your phone charger).
  • The other end of the HDMI cable goes into the HDMI port in your TV. This could either be at the rear or on the side of your TV.

Placement by TV

  • Once connected, place your ipod/tripod directly under/infront of your TV, so that it is in the centre of the screen. You can see the camera setup marked in red in the image below.
  • If your TV is wall mounted and you do not have a cabinet directly underneath, find a stool or a suitable piece of furniture on which you can safely sit the tripod.

 Start viewing

  • Turn on your TV and ensure that the input / source is switched to the HDMI port that the cable is connected to.
  • Once your TV is on, login to the app. To do this, launch the attentionTRACE app on the iPod and enter your unique login ID. This is emailed directly to you. Be sure to check your junk / spam folder.
  • Select the program you wish to watch and press play. 
  • Sit back & enjoy the program! 
The app keeps counting down from 3 but won't proceed from there. How do I fix this?

Please try the following steps:

  • Ensure the iPod is charging while in use
  • Exit the attentionTRACE app completely by pressing the home button twice, swiping up from the bottom and exiting the app. Wait a few seconds before relaunching the attentionTRACE app
Do I have to watch the recommended live TV programs?

Absolutely not. You can watch any program you like as long as it is aired on the prescribed channels for your study (see your study info page for more details).

We will send recommendations throughout the week of new / popular shows that you may be interested but this should be treated as a guide only, we want your viewing experience to be as natural as possible.

I haven't received any emails from you & can't start the study

Be sure to check your spam / junk folder and mark help@amplifiedintelligence.com.au as a safe email. 

If you are still not receiving emails, it may have been recorded incorrectly during recruitment. Email us via the link above and we will update your file.

Which time interval should I select?

We encourage all participants to try and vary their viewing time lengths as much as possible to ensure we are capturing a wide variety of programs. 

You should select a session time based on the length of the program you are watching (i.e. if you are watching Home & Away – this is a 30 minute program so we encourage you to select the 30 minute session time).

For programs that have longer viewing times or stretch over a number of channels (like the olympics), please select the time that most accurately matches the length you wish to view for.

Remember, you may stop the recording at any time however the reward will only be processed for complete sessions.

Our Devices

Does the iPod need to be updated?

All devices have been set up to automatically update to the latest version of iOS while connected to WiFi.

If you notice a notification on your device prior to a viewing session we recommend manually commencing the update so it doesn’t interrupt your session. 

Why am I unable to add other apps to the iPod?

The device is remotely managed by Amplified Intelligence and has been pre-loaded with everything you need to complete this study.

  • Exit the attentionTRACE app completely by pressing the home button twice, swiping up from the bottom and exiting the app. Wait a few seconds before relaunching the attentionTRACE app

Your Device

Why can't I participate on an android device?

At this time our app is only compaitble with iOS devices. 

What happens after I've finished the task?

Once you have finished all tasks and are presented with a ‘Thank you’ screen, you may delete the app from your device. 

Rewards

I haven't received my reward for a TV study

Rewards are sent to the email provided so please be sure to check both your inbox and junk / spam folders.

If you still have not received your reward, please email us at help@amplifiedintelligence.com.au and a human will get back to you as soon as possible.

I haven't received my reward for a social media or website study

Your reward is processed as soon as all tasks are completed within the attentionTRACE app. Please note, depending on your panel provider it may take up to 10 business days for this reward to clear your panel account.

If after this time you still have not received your reward, please email us at help@amplifiedintelligence.com.au and a human will get back to you as soon as possible.

Why can't I combine my gift cards?

Different studies are rewarded at different times with some being rewarded after each view. This means that you may end up with multiple gift cards for $5 – $20 denominations. 

At this stage it is not possible to combine these gift cards however, there are a number of providers (such as JB Hi-Fi) that will allow you to use multiple gift cards to pay for an item. 

I'd prefer to be paid via cash or paypal

At this stage our TV study rewards are exclusively provided via gift card. There are many different stores that you may redeem your gift card for, you can check them out here. Make sure you select your relevant country on the left hand side. 

 

Data Collection + Privacy

Is it safe to return the device after I've used it?

All devices are remotely managed by Amplified Intelligence meaning they cannot be used for any other purpose than your study. This prevents any transfer of information from your personal devices or Apple account to the managed device. The only app available for use is the attentionTRACE app which is pre-loaded and does not scrape any personal data.

Can I opt out of this study if I feel uncomfortable?

Absolutely! You may opt out at any time, please see below for the steps to do this;

Before you receive the hardware kit

If you sign up and decide you no longer wish to participate before you have received the kit, please let us know at help@amplifiedintelligence.com.au and we will send your kit to the next particpant on the list.

 After you receive the hardware kit

If you decide you no longer wish to participate after you have received the kit, please let us know via email and return the device and all associated hardware using the pre-paid return satchel provided.

Does attentionTRACE Collection App stay on people’s phones?

If collection participants forget to remove the App, it remains dormant. The App does not engage for any further activity after they have completed the final task in the collection process. In effect, the App becomes redundant. Through the App, we do ask participants to log in to various platforms (eg, Facebook & Instagram), but we DO NOT scrape any personal login details.

Could my data be sold?

No way! We just don’t do that. We respect our collection participants and do not onsell any of their data.
